"I have been going on a fishing trip to Canada with 5 of my closest friends, every year since 2012. The first year i purchase the A/M-24. The trip last one week. It is the only time during the year I fish. So, for the past 15 years the vest comes out for one week of the year, gets worn for that week, and then it is return to my Canadian gear fishing box and placed back in the Attic. None of the others ware vest of any kind and over the past 4 to 5 years the guys on the trip began to question if the vest would even deploy. I was planning on replacing vest just because of the age. On the last night of the trip we decided to test the vest. One of the members of our group took the vest and placed it on himself. Off the dock he jumped into water approximately 10 feet deep. After 15 years of in and out of the box in the attic, the vest deployed as advertised. It brings comfort knowing that over those fifteen years, had i gone into the water , the vest would have saved me!!! What a great product and I will be placing my order for my new one. DON’T STORE THE ONYX PFD’s IN YOUR BOAT!!
"Warning ⚠️ When not utilizing your onyx pfds make sure to store them inside your house and not in your boat. I found out the hard way. Thankfully the manager at Absolute Outdoors( company that makes/owns Onyx) said she would send me a rearming kit for free. I was not aware that these pfd’s are built differently than mustang survival ones. The white powder inside the yellow bobbins in the onyx brand pfds will break down over time due to humidity and cause the PFD to prematurely inflate. Hope this info helps anyone looking to purchase an onyx PFD. Other than that, these pfds are very comfortable, great quality, and I’m sure they work exactly how they are intended to. Hope I never have to find out…."

"Manual can be activated by finding the hidden pocket with a yellow manual cap and installing that where the clear cap and res and green tags is."
